The Ondo State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has commended the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government and Nigerian security agencies over the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Funmilayo Ikueduranni, and Secretary, Sunday Olusegun Omosule, the institute described the victims’ release after months in captivity as a significant victory in the country’s fight against insecurity.
According to the statement, the development reflects the unwavering commitment of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the determination of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the professionalism of the nation’s security agencies whose coordinated efforts secured the victims’ freedom.
The institute noted that the successful rescue was not only a source of relief to the affected families but also a major achievement for Nigeria’s collective resolve against criminality, stressing that security remains the primary responsibility of government.
The Ondo NIPR said public confidence in government institutions is strengthened when leaders demonstrate commitment to the protection of lives and property, adding that the operation offers renewed hope that sustained collaboration can effectively address security challenges.
The chapter also urged Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to intensify efforts toward safeguarding lives and property across the state in view of emerging security threats in parts of the country.
It further emphasised the importance of strategic public relations in governance and security management, saying timely, transparent and effective communication promotes public trust, encourages cooperation with security agencies and enhances community participation in intelligence gathering and crime prevention.
The institute reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, social cohesion, responsible information management and constructive engagement between government institutions and citizens.
It also called on Nigerians and other stakeholders to continue supporting governments at all levels and security agencies in the collective pursuit of a safer and more secure nation.
