Amotekun Parades Suspected Robber Who Attacks Okada Riders with Pestle in Ondo
By Exponent News, Akure, January 22, 2025

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, has paraded a suspect, Monday Ojowuro, who is accused of robbing Okada riders using a pestle. The suspect was apprehended in the ongoing efforts to combat rising crime in the state. Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the Commander of Amotekun, revealed that Ojowuro was part of a larger group targeting motorcyclists, particularly those operating without proper registration or identification.

Adeleye also addressed concerns about the growing number of bandits infiltrating the southwest, noting that collaborative efforts between the security agencies of the six southwestern states have significantly ramped up their operations. He assured the public that measures are in place to prevent criminals from gaining a foothold in the region.

Additionally, Adeleye highlighted the troubling trend of kidnapping, particularly targeting individuals using unregistered vehicles. He urged commuters to utilize only registered commercial vehicles and avoid late-night motorcycle rides with unidentified riders. Amotekun has intensified its strategy to tackle these issues and warned against the dangers of illegal and unregistered vehicles operating on the highways.

Despite these efforts, recent reports of violence in parts of the state, especially in Owo and Akoko, have raised concerns. Adeleye emphasized that these attacks were largely linked to clashes between rival groups. In response, Amotekun has increased operations to dismantle illegal firearms networks and restore order in the affected areas.
