Press Release: Community Safety Partnership – Owo Embraces Initiative

Date: 29th January, 2025

In a concerted effort to boost security and reduce social vices in Owo and surrounding areas, the Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, psc+, mnips, visited the Owo community. This strategic visit involved engaging with key stakeholders, including traditional rulers and community leaders, to further the Community Safety Partnership initiative.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the partnership between the police and local communities in tackling crime. During the discussions, community leaders shared their security concerns and called for police intervention. The Commissioner of Police assured the public of his commitment to collaborating closely with local leaders to address these challenges and ensure a safer environment.

The Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Oduoye III, expressed his gratitude for the initiative, reaffirming the support of the Owo community and surrounding areas. The traditional ruler pledged the cooperation of local leaders to develop effective strategies for crime prevention and addressing social vices.

The Community Safety Partnership is designed to foster mutual trust between the police and local communities, increase police visibility, enhance intelligence gathering, and encourage active community involvement in security issues.
