*Land Sale Scandal Rocks Ondo Farmers’ Congress, President Ousted

The Ondo State Farmers’ Congress has expelled its former president, Evang. Joshua Oyedele, following accusations of gross misconduct, including the sale of Congress-owned land and mismanagement of funds. The expulsion came after a press conference held on Tuesday, February 4th, 2025, where the Chairman of the Enquiry Committee, Chief Josiah Idowu Mabiola, revealed the findings of their investigation.

Evang. Oyedele, who served as president for two terms from 2004 to 2013, is accused of selling off 72 plots of land belonging to the Farmers’ Congress but only declaring 22 plots as sold. Additionally, he allegedly misappropriated funds, a matter that was never addressed by the succeeding leadership. Despite numerous attempts by the Congress to contact Oyedele for clarification, he has failed to provide an explanation or clear his name.

In light of these revelations, Chief Mabiola emphasized that the expulsion of Evang. Oyedele was carried out in accordance with Article 21 of the Congress’ constitution.

Furthermore, the Congress has called on the state government to instruct the Ministry of Agriculture to release the CDF (Capital Development Fund) to the Farmers’ Congress.

Addressing journalists, the chairman of the enquiry committee-, chief Josiah Idowu Mabiola and the PRO Mr Felix Akinboboye said the fund is crucial for the support and development of farmers across the state.
