Admin. 3rd March,2025.

The Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has provided Toyota Hilux vehicles to the newly inaugurated local government chairmen across the 18 local government areas of the state.

The presentation ceremony, held on Monday at the Government House in Akure, saw the Governor reaffirm his administration’s commitment to strengthening grassroots governance and improving service delivery at the local level.

During the event, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that the provision of these utility vehicles was designed to enhance the chairmen’s efficiency in fulfilling their duties. He stated that local government administration plays a pivotal role in governance, and his administration is committed to ensuring that the chairmen are well-equipped to perform effectively.

“This administration prioritizes grassroots development, and we are determined to support the local government system in every way possible. Personally, I believe in local government autonomy and I’ll wholeheartedly support it. These vehicles are not for luxury but to aid you in reaching every corner of your local government to serve the people better,” Governor Aiyedatiwa remarked.

He further urged the chairmen to remain accountable, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the people, highlighting that their success at the local level will significantly contribute to the overall development of Ondo State.

The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Ondo State Chapter, and Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Gbenga Fasua, expressed gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for the initiative. He assured the Governor of their commitment to good governance, grassroots development, and the execution of people-oriented policies.

The ceremony was attended by several key officials, including the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami; Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji; Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties, Comrade Bola Taiwo; Chairman of Ondo SUBEB, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan; and other prominent government figures.
