The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) for Zone 17, AIG Abiodun Asabi, has officially retired from the Nigeria Police Force after an impressive 35 years of dedicated service. His retirement was celebrated with a pull-out parade and a grand ceremony held at the Gani Fawehinmi Arcade in Akure on March 3, 2025.

AIG Asabi, born on April 16, 1965, joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1990, where he served in various capacities across different commands and formations. Throughout his distinguished career, he earned a reputation for professionalism, leadership, and unwavering commitment to improving policing operations. His tenure as AIG saw significant improvements in law enforcement within the zone, including the construction of a modern cell facility and the completion of the Zonal Chapel, contributing to the advancement of police infrastructure in Ondo and Ekiti States.

The retirement ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including top government officials, Commissioners of Police from Ondo and Ekiti States, senior officers from security agencies, traditional rulers, family, and friends, all of whom gathered to celebrate his legacy.

In speeches during the event, colleagues and dignitaries lauded AIG Asabi for his integrity, leadership, and dedication to crime prevention and community engagement. His commitment to the welfare of officers and his exemplary service were highlighted as a source of inspiration for future generations of police officers.

The Nigeria Police Force commended AIG Asabi for his selfless service and sacrifices, wishing him continued success and fulfillment in his future endeavors.
