On March 9, 2025, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oladiji Olamide, attended the Chronicle Magazine Award Ceremony, where his former colleague, Hon. Tomide Akinribole was among those honored. Speaking at the event, Speaker Olamide expressed gratitude for the invite extended by his former peers in the 9th Assembly and praised the publisher of Chronicle Magazine, a long-time ally of the Assembly, for his contributions to journalism.

Olamide commended the event for its well-deserved recognitions, noting that all awards given were based on merit. He also took the opportunity to thank the media for their crucial role in stabilizing the political landscape and supporting the government of Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa . The Speaker expressed his appreciation for the maturity and commitment shown by journalists, stressing that their efforts were vital in maintaining a strong, democratic society.

Hon. Akintomide Recognized for Efforts in Advancing Ondo State’s ICT Sector

In a significant development for Ondo State’s technological growth, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT, Hon. Akintomide,Aderibole has been honoured with an award for his leadership in reshaping the state’s ICT landscape by the Chronicle Media organization in Akure.. Speaking on the achievement, Akintomide credited the recognition to ongoing efforts in enhancing ICT penetration and equipping the youth with vital tech skills.

He highlighted that a key initiative underway is the establishment of a state-of-the-art tech hub at the University of Science and Technology in Okitipupa, already 65% complete. Additionally, the state government has allocated funds in this year’s budget for another tech hub at either the University of Medical Sciences.

Akintomide also emphasized ongoing discussions with federal agencies and private investors to further drive the state’s technological advancements, solidifying Ondo State’s position as a growing hub for innovation and digital economy.

Chief Olamide Falana Reflects on Gender Equality Amidst Recognition by Chronicle Magazine

Chief Olamide Falana, a leading advocate for gender parity, expressed mixed emotions as she received an award from Chronicle Magazine for her efforts towards achieving gender equality. While she felt honored and excited for the recognition, Falana also voiced her disappointment over the continued gender disparity in Nigeria. “I’m grateful to Chronicle Magazine for this award, but I’m also saddened that we have not yet achieved gender equality,” She said. The renowned activist emphasized the importance of collective effort, urging society to intensify support for women and girls in a bid to foster true equality in the nation.
