DPO Redeployed as Ondo Police Probe Viral Video Incident

Admin 13th April, 2025

The Ondo State Police Command has launched a full investigation into a viral video showing the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Igbaraoke being publicly accused and called a “thief” (“ole”) by members of the public during a heated exchange.

The footage, widely shared on social media, has raised concerns among residents and prompted swift action from the state police leadership. In a statement released Sunday, the Command confirmed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, has ordered a thorough inquiry into the matter to ascertain the facts and uphold the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force.

Preliminary investigations suggest the confrontation arose from a dispute between the DPO and some members of the Igbaraoke community. However, the situation has since been resolved amicably following the intervention of the Ifedore Local Government Chairman, who mediated discussions between both parties.

To ensure fairness and maintain public confidence, the Command disclosed that the DPO has been redeployed from the Igbaraoke Division while the investigation continues.

Reaffirming its dedication to transparency and public trust, the Ondo State Police Command urged citizens to remain calm and allow the investigative process to unfold.

E-Signed:
DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola
Police Public Relations Officer, Ondo State Command
For: Commissioner of Police, Ondo State
