Rector Calls for Renewed Commitment to Building Prosperous Nigeria
The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, Dr. Ademola Iyanda Ebeloku, has called on Nigerians to renew their commitment to national unity, peaceful coexistence and the collective development of the country as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.
Ebeloku made the call in his Independence Day message issued on Thursday, October 1, 2026, in which he urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of the nation’s past heroes and work together towards building a better and more prosperous Nigeria.
The Rector described Nigeria’s journey since independence as one marked by challenges, resilience and progress, noting that the country’s diversity remains an important source of strength.
According to him, the sacrifices, courage and patriotism of the nation’s founding heroes should serve as a reminder of the collective responsibility of citizens to preserve and strengthen Nigeria’s unity.
He urged Nigerians, irrespective of their various capacities and callings, to sustain the positive legacies of the past by promoting peaceful coexistence, genuine love for one another, renewed hope and good neighbourliness.
Ebeloku also felicitated with the Governing Council, Academic Board, Management, staff and students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, commending their commitment to contributing to national development through knowledge generation, dissemination and application.
He said the institution remained committed to supporting the development of a united and prosperous Nigeria through education and the effective application of knowledge.
“Together, we can build the Nigeria of our dreams—a nation that we can all be proud of, and a better and more prosperous Nigeria that will take its rightful place among the comity of nations,” the Rector said.
He congratulated Nigerians on the 66th Independence Anniversary and prayed for continued blessings for the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
