Group Reaffirms Confidence in Komolafe Daisi Leadership, Clarifies Claims on Loans and Vehicle

By Exponent News, Akure | June 23, 2025

A coalition of artisan associations under the banner of the Ondo State United Artisans has declared its unwavering support for the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Artisan Matters, Comrade Komolafe Daisi, amidst recent public criticisms.

The group, comprising six major artisan bodies—NATTA, OSATU, the Hairdressers Association, Carpenters and Furniture Association, Tailors Association of Nigeria (TAN), and OSAG—announced plans to stage a one million-man march in solidarity with Comrade Daisi. They described the recent allegations against him as unfounded and politically motivated.

Speaking through their spokesperson, Pastor Olaniyi Ale, the artisans clarified that the Artisan Support Network and Advancement Team (ASNAT), which Comrade Daisi coordinates at the state and regional levels, is an initiative of the Federal Government and not a personal creation of the SSA. According to them, the body was established with the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to enhance the welfare of artisans nationwide.

On the issue of a vehicle allegedly misappropriated, the group explained that the said vehicle belongs personally to Comrade Daisi. However, in the interest of peace and unity among members, he voluntarily released it for OSAG’s use after dialogue and intervention from concerned stakeholders.

Addressing concerns over microcredit loans, the group said disbursement was transparently handled and distributed through recognized associations. They emphasized that a total of N24 million was issued to OSAG in 2024, and the current controversies could be linked to unresolved loan repayments.

“Comrade Daisi and Mr. Bello have consistently supported artisans by using their personal resources and assets to secure funding opportunities for us,” Pastor Ale stated. “The distractions we’re witnessing are unfortunate, especially as they come at a time when repayments are due.”

The United Artisans further suggested that internal tensions within OSAG may have been fueled by political differences during the last electioneering season. According to them, recent disagreements stemmed from perceived breaches in collective decisions and distribution of state-provided welfare items.

He alleged that  ODAGs collected 70 bags of rice . His words “We questioned OSAG’s unilateral collection of 70 bags of rice, which they later publicly criticized,” Ale alleged. Also, he alleged them of receiving other palliatives  “They also received other palliatives such as rice and corn without informing the coalition. These actions have sown distrust.”

The artisans reiterated their confidence in Comrade Daisi’s leadership and reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful collaboration among all artisan groups in the state.

“Our support for Comrade Daisi is rooted in facts and his tireless efforts in championing artisan welfare. That’s why we are organizing a one million-man march to show our appreciation and solidarity,” the statement conclude
