LAGOS POLICE TO ENFORCE TOTAL VEHICULAR RESTRICTION FOR JULY 12 LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS

By Exponent News Akure
July 10, 2025

The Lagos State Police Command has announced a total restriction of vehicular movement across Lagos State from 3:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday, July 12, 2025, to ensure a smooth and secure conduct of the Lagos Local Government Elections.

According to the Command, the restriction will affect all roads and waterways within the state’s jurisdiction, with strict enforcement throughout the 12-hour period.

Key directives include:

1. No movement of vehicles, including those of state security and quasi-security agencies, as only personnel officially deployed by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) are authorized to participate in election duties.

2. Prohibition of armed escorts, use of sirens, and vehicles with covered number plates.

3. Exemptions are granted only to essential services — medical emergencies, emergency responders, LASIEC-accredited election officials, observers, and journalists with valid LASIEC tags.

4. Identification Tags must be visibly worn by all accredited security personnel, media practitioners, and observers throughout the election period.

5. Security Alert: The police issued a stern warning to miscreants, hoodlums, and political thugs to stay clear of polling units and collation centers.

The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police via the following emergency lines: 08063299264 or 08065154338.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the democratic process and ensuring a peaceful election across the state.
