Tragedy in Akungba: Missing POS Operator Found Dead in Locked Apartment, Boyfriend Declared Wanted

3rd August, 2025

The Akungba-Akoko community of Ondo State has been thrown into shock following the gruesome discovery of a missing Point of Sale (POS) operator, Busayo Joy, found dead in a locked apartment under suspicious circumstances.

Busayo, a graduate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba (AAUA), was reported missing after allegedly failing to remit ₦750,000 in business proceeds. Her disappearance raised concerns among friends and family, prompting a search that culminated in the tragic find.

On 25th July 2025, a foul odour emanating from an apartment in the Meduline area of Akungba drew the attention of residents. Officers were alerted and, upon forcing entry into the parlour room, discovered Busayo’s lifeless body. The scene reportedly bore signs of suspected ritual activity, with items such as black soap and cowries found near the body.

Authorities have identified Busayo’s boyfriend as the prime suspect in the case. He is currently on the run, but police assure the public that an intensive manhunt is underway to apprehend him and unravel the full circumstances surrounding the suspected homicide.

The Ondo State Police Command has commenced a thorough investigation and urged anyone with useful information on the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward.
