Ondo Police Officers Undergo Capacity-Building Training on Investigation, Report Writing
Determined to enhance professionalism and efficiency in policing, the Ondo State Police Command has commenced a three-day intensive training programme focused on Effective Investigation and Report Writing for its officers.
The programme, which kicked off on Wednesday, 3rd September, 2025, was formally declared open by the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc+, mnips. Senior officers from the Command’s management team and selected participants drawn from across the state were in attendance. Beneficiaries of the training include Area Crime Officers, Divisional Crime Officers, and Inspector Crimes from the 54 Divisional Police Stations, the 8 Area Commands, tactical teams, and the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
While addressing participants, the Commissioner of Police explained that the initiative aligns with the vision and mission statement of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, which emphasizes people-centered policing, enhanced professionalism, and improved service delivery through continuous training and retraining.
According to him, “an untrained officer is not only a danger to the public but also a danger to himself,” stressing the need for constant capacity building in modern policing.
To ensure maximum impact, seasoned experts in investigation were engaged as facilitators, delivering lectures and practical sessions aimed at sharpening the skills and competence of the participants.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to building a professional and accountable police workforce in line with global best practices. CP Adebowale Lawal assured that training and retraining will remain a priority for the Ondo State Police Command to strengthen investigation, accountability, and public trust
