Insecurity: No Imminent Terrorist Attack in Ondo State, Police Assure Public

The Ondo State Police Command has reassured residents that there is no confirmed intelligence indicating any imminent terrorist attack in the state, following the circulation of a viral video alleging planned attacks in some communities.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Command said it observed with concern the widespread circulation of the video in which a cleric allegedly warned residents about impending security threats in parts of the state.
The Command, however, noted that the claims contained in the video remain unverified and currently lack any confirmed intelligence backing.
According to the statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, had directed a discreet and thorough investigation into the source and content of the video.
The Police disclosed that intelligence gathering, surveillance operations, strategic monitoring and security deployments had been intensified across vulnerable areas of the state to forestall any possible security breach.
While urging residents to remain calm and avoid spreading unsubstantiated information capable of causing fear and panic, the Command emphasized that security agencies in the state remain on high alert.
“The Ondo State Police Command wishes to reassure residents that, as of this moment, there is no confirmed intelligence indicating any imminent terrorist attack in Ondo State,” the statement said.
The Command also encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or relevant security agency.
It further reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property through collaboration with community leaders, traditional institutions, local vigilante groups and other stakeholders across the state.
