NOA Takes Civic Awareness Campaign to Akure Streets

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ondo State Directorate, on Thursday took its campaign on civic responsibilities and value reorientation to the streets of Akure, with a sensitization road walk that drew residents’ attention to the importance of national values and citizen duties.
The exercise, which kicked off at the Adegbemile Cultural Centre, moved through the ever-busy Oba Adesida Road and ended at NEPA Roundabout, where members of the public were further enlightened. The walk attracted broad participation from NOA staff, security agencies, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), NYSC members, the WAI Brigade, and media organizations.
Speaking during the campaign, the Ondo State Director of NOA, Mr. James Adekunle, said the initiative was part of a nationwide effort to bring the Agency’s sensitization programmes closer to the people. He listed the campaign’s focus areas to include improving citizens’ knowledge of government policies and programmes, civic duties, disaster preparedness, peace and security awareness, value reorientation for students against extreme “Sign Out” practices, and respect for Nigerian identity and national symbols.
At various stops along the route, participants addressed the public in multiple languages such as Yoruba, Akure dialect, Igbo, and Hausa, ensuring the messages reached diverse audiences in familiar tongues.
Many residents lauded the effort, describing it as timely and impactful in reviving civic consciousness and strengthening national unity.
