Ondo NOA Director Honoured as POCACOV Ambassador for Championing Community Reorientation

Akure, Nigeria – 15th September 2025
In recognition of his outstanding dedication to national reorientation and grassroots engagement, the Ondo State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. James Adekunle, has been conferred with the title of Ambassador of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV).

The honour was presented during a courtesy visit to the NOA State Headquarters in Akure by Princess Regina Mogbojuri, Chairman of POCACOV, who also handed Mr. Adekunle a commemorative plaque of honour in acknowledgment of his efforts in promoting societal values and community development through strategic sensitization and social mobilization.

Princess Mogbojuri described POCACOV as a civil-driven initiative of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, aimed at eradicating cultism and related social vices through community-based and preventive approaches. She commended the NOA’s continuous work in shaping public behaviour and attitude, noting that the agency’s campaigns align closely with POCACOV’s mission.

“We recognize Mr. Adekunle’s pivotal role in promoting national values and engaging communities for the common good. It is only fitting that we strengthen our partnership with the NOA to achieve safer, more responsible societies,” she said.

In his response, Mr. Adekunle expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the urgency of collaborative action. He highlighted the NOA’s ongoing nationwide sensitization campaign anchored on six thematic areas, including value reorientation, under the National Value Charter Project.

“The fight against cultism must begin at the foundational level—by instilling in our youth the core values of honesty, discipline, hard work, and care for one another,” Adekunle remarked.
“We look forward to working hand in hand with POCACOV to deepen awareness, correct negative perceptions, and rebuild societal norms.”

The visit marked a renewed commitment to multi-stakeholder collaboration in combating social ills and fostering positive change across Ondo communities. Stakeholders say the recognition will further inspire joint efforts to curb cultism, enhance social cohesion, and promote peacebuilding initiatives at the grassroots.
