TESCOM Inauguration: Ondo Governor Reaffirms Commitment to Education Reform

Akure, Nigeria – October 13, 2025

Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reiterated his administration’s dedication to transforming the education sector, citing visible progress from ongoing investments and reforms.

Speaking during the inauguration of the newly appointed Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) board members at the Cocoa Conference Centre in Akure, the Governor described education as the “most critical pillar of human development,” stressing that current efforts are already yielding measurable results.

“Our administration has made significant progress in the education sector. We have recruited a new generation of teachers, improved school infrastructure and enhanced monitoring mechanisms across the State,” he said. “These efforts have already begun to yield results, and we are proud of the renewed energy we see in our classrooms.”

Governor Aiyedatiwa charged the new TESCOM board members to uphold integrity, fairness, and innovation in discharging their duties, emphasizing that the commission plays a central role in shaping the future of public education in the state.

“TESCOM is not just another government board; it is the heart of our public education system,” the governor stated. “Its decisions shape the welfare, discipline and professional growth of our teachers, who in turn shape the minds of our future leaders.”

He further urged the board to collaborate with the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders to implement reforms, facilitate continuous teacher training, and ensure accountability across the system.

The inauguration comes amid ongoing renovation of school infrastructure and strategic teacher recruitment efforts aimed at strengthening learning outcomes across public schools in the state.

Secretary to the State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, praised the governor’s strategic investments, noting that Ondo State continues to set national standards in education. He cited recent national awards won by two Ondo teachers as evidence of the state’s excellence in both public and private educational institutions.

In her acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated TESCOM Chairman, Dr. Oluwadaisi Idowu Oke, pledged to justify the confidence reposed in her team, promising a transparent and disciplined approach to governance at the Commission.

“This appointment is based on experience, discipline and education. We will work hard to justify the trust placed in us,” she assured.

The event was attended by top government functionaries including Deputy Governor Dr Olayide Adelami, former Governor Alhaji Ali Olanusi, Chief of Staff Prince Segun Omojuwa, and other dignitaries from the political and traditional spheres.
