In a historic and memorable event, at the seventh investiture of the Association of the Professional Bodies of Nigeria – APBN, Surveyor Johnson Olofinte, the newly elected Chairman of the Association and his executives took an oath of office, as well as an oath of allegiance that he would uphold the aims and objectives of the Professional Bodies for which the organization was formed. The programme was held at the ICAN building, Alagbaka, Akure, and gathered the major personalities within and outside the state. According to him, Surveyor Olofinte said that he was privileged and humbled to stand before the audience as the 7th Chairman of the Association in the state. In his acceptance speech, he said, “I glorify God also for His mercies upon me and our members in this State and beyond. It is by the mercy of God that today’s experience has come to be, and I pray that the presence of God will continue to be with us. Amen,” he declared.

Olofinte, who took over from the former Chairman, Sir David Ologun, took time to explain briefly about the APBN as the unification of all recognized professional associations in Nigeria. He said it existed nationally and is recognized by the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with thirty (30) active professional bodies to her credit in the state. Explaining, Surveyor Johnson Olofinte appealed to the Ondo State government and individuals present at the occasion to assist the bodies in building a modest house or Secretariat to serve as their meeting place. He said a place where they could keep their records and documents for security purposes and prosperity’s sake is required.

He explained that the application for the land for the bodies has reached the approval stage. He, however, appealed to Mr Governor, His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to direct his men to expedite action on the application so that the bodies could start the construction of the Secretariat in earnest.

Lamenting, Surveyor Olofinte said as at now, individual officers of the Association were still keeping most vital documents of the Association in their houses. He said as offices change, some of these documents may get lost in transit in the course of moving them to new officers, and this will become untraceable. He, therefore, appealed to the philanthropists and other notable rich personalities in the society for their anticipated generous donation toward ensuring the construction of that Secretariat for the Association.

The event witnessed the decorations and awards to some selected personalities who have distinguished themselves in their various niche. Among whom was Mr Governor, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and a host of others.
