Police Burst Baby Factory, Rescue Six in Ondo

27th October,2025

The Ondo State Police Command has dismantled a suspected baby factory in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state, rescuing five pregnant teenagers and a baby boy in the process.

The discovery followed the escape of a 17-year-old girl, identified as Vivian Peter from Akwa Ibom State, who reported to the Ore Police Division after fleeing from the facility on October 21, 2025.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, the teenager revealed that she was lured from Akwa Ibom to Ore under the pretense of a job offer but was later taken to a clinic that turned out to be a baby factory.

Acting on her report, operatives from Ore Division, in collaboration with the Command’s Gender-Based Violence Unit, raided the premises, rescuing the victims who were allegedly being held for exploitation. One of the victims had already given birth and is currently receiving postnatal care at the General Hospital, Ore, while others remain under police protection.

Preliminary investigations showed that the prime suspect, Ada Clement, and some of her accomplices confessed to operating the illegal facility, where babies were allegedly sold for between ₦400,000 and ₦600,000, depending on gender.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, has ordered a thorough and discreet investigation to apprehend all members of the trafficking syndicate. He confirmed that detectives are already on the trail of other fleeing suspects.

Lawal reiterated the Command’s commitment to the directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, stressing that the Force will continue its crackdown on human trafficking, baby factories, and other forms of gender-based violence.

He assured residents of Ondo State that the Police remain steadfast in their mission to protect vulnerable citizens and bring perpetrators of such crimes to justice..
