Sub-theme: Aiyedatiwa Administration Pushes Infrastructure Renewal to Boost Connectivity and Service Delivery

In a major move to enhance infrastructure and stimulate development across Ondo State, the State Executive Council (EXCO) has approved the construction and rehabilitation of 101.036 kilometres of roads alongside the upgrade of several public buildings.

The approval, which reflects Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to infrastructural renewal, was one of the key outcomes of the Council meeting held on Monday, October 27, 2025, in Akure.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, said the projects cut across major towns and rural communities, aimed at improving mobility, trade, and access to social services.

“We have approved 66.421 kilometres of new roads and 34.615 kilometres for rehabilitation and reconstruction, making a total of 101.036 kilometres. These projects will open up communities and ease vehicular movement across the state,” Olawoye explained.

Among the newly approved road projects are the Omotosho–Igbotako–Iju-Odo Road in Okitipupa, Danjuma–Bolajoko Road in Akure, and College Road–Irewole Roundabout in Igbokoda. The Ijoka Road dualisation project in Akure also received approval for review and continuation of work.

NEW PROJECTS IN FOCUS

Aside from roadworks, the Council also approved the construction of a 216-bed hostel at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko, aimed at providing better accommodation for corps members posted to the state.

Similarly, the state government will construct a two-storey building for the Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and Anti-Corruption Commission, while several ministries and agencies will undergo renovation and facility upgrades.

Benefiting offices include the Hospital Management Board (HMB), Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, and the Ministry of Lands and Housing.

TRADITIONAL INSTITUTION GETS BOOST

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, announced the appointment of three new traditional rulers:

Prince Emmanuel Adetutu Ifasole as the Akinuwa of Ipindo in Ondo West LGA;

Prince Bamikole Adeyefa as the Elemure of Emure-Ile in Owo LGA;

Prince Akintoye Felix Adeoye as the Oloke of Okeigbo in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo LGA.

He also revealed the constitution of a Warrant Chiefs Committee for the Olojoda Chieftaincy Stool, comprising six nominees from the ruling houses of the community.

GOVERNMENT REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO DEVELOPMENT

Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, emphasized that the new approvals underscore the Aiyedatiwa administration’s dedication to ensuring governance directly improves citizens’ quality of life.

“This government is focused on projects that touch lives directly. Governor Aiyedatiwa is determined to deliver visible results through massive infrastructure renewal,” Ajanaku said.
