Incest Allegation: 55-Year-Old Man Arrested Over Sexual Abuse in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 55-year-old man over an alleged case of incest and sexual abuse in Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State.
The suspect, identified as Ademola Joshua, was arrested following a report made on 4 January 2025 by a resident of Ilara-Mokin, Adewale. According to the police, the complainant alleged that Joshua had been engaging in unlawful sexual activities with his sister’s daughter, a 15-year-old minor. The allegation came to light during inquiries into the cause of the girl’s pregnancy.
Upon receiving the report, the Command said the case was immediately transferred to its Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Unit for a discreet and thorough investigation. The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
The Ondo State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of women and children, stressing that offenders involved in sexual and gender-based violence would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Command noted that the arrest is in line with the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, which emphasizes gender-sensitive policing, accountability, and effective response to sexual and gender-based crimes.
Police authorities also commended members of the public for their timely and courageous reporting and urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible information to enhance community safety.
