
Police Arrest 21-Year-Old Over Alleged Rape, Murder of Woman in Ondo Community
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old suspect, Alabi Anthony, in connection with the tragic death of Olaseni Veronica in Iboropa, Akoko area of the state.
According to the Command, the arrest followed credible intelligence that prompted detectives to launch a swift investigation. This led to the tracking of the deceased’s missing phone, which ultimately resulted in the suspect’s apprehension.
Police disclosed that the suspect allegedly confessed to committing the crime, admitting to having carnal knowledge of the victim before strangling her to death.
Condemning the incident, the Command described the act as heinous and inhumane, assuring the public that justice will be pursued to its logical conclusion.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department at the Command Headquarters in Akure for further discreet investigation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities and avoid drawing hasty conclusions in cases of sudden or unnatural deaths, noting that timely information is crucial for effective policing.
