Police Nab Alleged Medical Quack, Shut Illegal Clinic in Ore

Date: 18th January,2026

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly operating an illegal medical clinic in Ore, Ondo State, as part of ongoing efforts to curb medical quackery and protect public health. The arrest was carried out on January 14, 2025, following actionable intelligence received by the Command.
The suspect, identified as Idris Nasiru, was apprehended by operatives of the Command’s Surveillance Team during an intelligence-led operation. A search of the premises used as a clinic reportedly led to the discovery of several medical items, including packs of injection needles, medical drips, bandages, and other assorted medical kits. Further investigation extended to the suspect’s residence, where a search warrant was executed, resulting in the recovery of used injection bottles, needles, and syringes.
Police investigations so far have revealed that the suspect is not a registered medical practitioner, confirming that the facility was being run illegally. The suspect is currently in custody and has made useful statements, while arrangements are underway to charge him to court upon the completion of investigations.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, commended the operatives for their professionalism and timely action. He stressed that intelligence-driven policing remains a critical tool in dismantling criminal networks, particularly those endangering lives through unregulated medical practices. The Commissioner reassured residents of the Command’s determination to safeguard lives and property across the State.
CP Lawal also expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his leadership and continued support, noting that ongoing reforms and initiatives within the Force have enhanced the capacity of the Police to tackle medical-related crimes effectively.
The Ondo State Police Command called on members of the public to sustain their cooperation with the Police by providing credible information that can aid crime prevention and detection throughout the State.
The Command further advised residents to be cautious when seeking medical services and to remain vigilant to avoid patronizing unqualified medical practitioners, assuring the public of its commitment to eradicating medical crimes in all their forms.
