Date:24th January, 2026

Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Friday met with all nine members of the House of Representatives from the state, as both sides reaffirmed their commitment to collective development, political unity, and sustained stability in Ondo State.
The meeting, held during a dinner hosted by the governor at the Government House in Akure, focused on strengthening collaboration between the federal lawmakers and the state government, particularly in advancing development initiatives and consolidating unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s congresses.
Governor Aiyedatiwa charged the lawmakers to see the peace, progress, and development of Ondo State as a shared responsibility, stressing that governance must rise above partisan interests.
He said the synergy between the executive arm and the National Assembly members was critical to sustaining development momentum in the Sunshine State, noting that his administration would continue to prioritise the welfare of the people over politics.
The governor also disclosed that discussions included aligning federal and state development agendas to ensure Ondo State benefits maximally from federal projects under the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, the collaboration with the lawmakers represents a major gain for the state and reflects the type of partnership required to maintain stability and progress.
Governor Aiyedatiwa further briefed the lawmakers on activities lined up for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the creation of Ondo State, expressing delight over what he described as an unprecedented political alignment in the state.
He noted that all 12 members of the National Assembly—comprising senators and House of Representatives members—as well as all 26 members of the Ondo State House of Assembly, are now members of the APC.
The House of Representatives members in attendance were Hon. Abiodun Derin Adesida (Akure South/Akure North), Hon. Abiola Makinde (Ondo East/Ondo West), Hon. Timehin Adelegbe (Owo/Ose), Hon. Gboyega Adefarati (Akoko South West/Akoko South-East), Hon. Ife Ehindero (Akoko North-East/Akoko North-West), Hon. Festus Akingbaso (Idanre/Ifedore), Hon. Festus Adefiranye (Ileoluji-Okeigbo/Odigbo), Hon. Donald Ojogo (Ilaje/Ese-Odo) and Hon. Jimi Odimayo (Okitipupa/Irele).
Responding on behalf of the lawmakers, the federal legislators commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for what they described as notable developmental strides across the state.
They pledged their loyalty and support to the governor, promising to set aside political differences and work collectively for the development of Ondo State and the strengthening of the APC.
Also present at the meeting were the Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ololade Gbegudu; National Vice Chairman of the APC, Hon. Isaac Kekemeke; Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac; Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative and Party Affairs, Hon. Babatunde Kolawole; and APC chieftain, Prince Ademola Adegoroye.
