Police Assure Residents of Security as CP Lawal Receives Excellence Award
The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Adebowale Lawal, has assured residents that the command remains fully capable of tackling security challenges across the state, declaring that the police are “up to the task” of combating crime and maintaining peace.
The assurance came following the presentation of an Award of Excellence to the Commissioner by Topshop Africa Magazine in recognition of the command’s performance in promoting peace and security in the state.
Speaking at the event on behalf of the Commissioner, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, said the command would not relent in its efforts to rid the state of criminal elements disturbing public peace.
Jimoh noted that since the assumption of office by Commissioner Lawal, the state has experienced relative peace as a result of strategic security measures put in place by the command.
He acknowledged that there are still pockets of criminal activities in some parts of the state, particularly within the Akure North but assured that proactive steps have been taken to address the situation.
According to him, the command recently established a tactical team base in Ilu-Abo to ensure that violent crimes are swiftly curtailed.
“The command is not overwhelmed. We are capable and fully prepared for the task ahead. All necessary security apparatus have been deployed to combat crime and criminality in the state,” he said.
He further disclosed that operatives of the State Intelligence Department have also been deployed across the state, operating both covertly and overtly to gather actionable intelligence.
Jimoh added that the successes recorded by the command so far demonstrate the effectiveness of the strategies being implemented to ensure the safety of residents across the state.
