Poroye Backs Akingboye, Thanks Aiyedatiwa for Uniting APC Ahead of Ilaje/Ese-Odo Poll in Ondo State
Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Prince Biyi Poroye, has thrown his weight behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency, Pastor Leke Akingboye, pledging to mobilise support and reconcile aggrieved party members ahead of the general elections.
Poroye gave the assurance when Akingboye paid him a visit at his office, in what observers describe as a strategic move to strengthen party cohesion and boost the candidate’s chances at the polls.
During the meeting, the OSOPADEC chairman commended Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for recognising loyalty and long-standing dedication within the party, noting that Akingboye’s emergence as consensus candidate reflects his years of commitment to the progressive movement.
He traced Akingboye’s political journey from the days of the Action Congress (AC) through the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to the APC, describing him as a consistent party loyalist.
Poroye also expressed confidence in Akingboye’s ability to effectively represent the constituency, particularly in drawing federal attention to the challenges of sea incursion affecting coastal communities such as Aiyetoro.
He recalled that Akingboye was the APC candidate for Ilaje Constituency I in the Ondo State House of Assembly election in 2015, noting that both the candidate and Governor Aiyedatiwa had played key roles in sustaining the party’s structure across Ilaje and Ese-Odo local government areas.
Assuring the candidate of his support, Poroye said efforts would be made to unite all factions within the party.
“We will give you the needed support and also engage those who may be aggrieved, encouraging them to reflect on your past contributions to the party,” he said.
He further expressed optimism that Akingboye would emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections.
