Ondo Governor Applauds Court Verdict on Owo Church Attack Suspects

Ondo State Governor, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has hailed the judiciary and security agencies for securing the conviction and death sentence of four individuals found guilty of the June 5, 2022, terror attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo.
Speaking on the landmark ruling, Governor Aiyedatiwa described it as a triumph for justice and the rule of law, offering some solace to the victims and families affected by the brutal attack that claimed numerous lives and left many others injured.
He praised the prosecution team for their diligence, the investigative authorities for their thoroughness, and the judiciary for its courage in ensuring that justice was served, emphasizing that the government would not tolerate acts of terror or violence against innocent citizens. “This judgment sends a clear message that those who take innocent lives will face the full weight of the law, regardless of how long it takes,” the Governor said.
Governor Aiyedatiwa also commended the resilience of the people of Owo and the Catholic community, noting their steadfast commitment to peace despite the trauma of the attack. He assured residents that his administration would continue collaborating with security agencies to enhance intelligence gathering, protect public spaces, and prevent such tragedies from occurring in the state.
While acknowledging that the ruling cannot restore the lives lost, the Governor said it brings a measure of closure and hope that justice is achievable. He prayed for the repose of the departed souls and comfort for their grieving families.
