Ondo Appoints New Head of Service as Philips Retires

AKURE, June 5, 2026 — Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the appointment of Chief Segun Odusanya as the new Head of Service of the state, effective June 6, 2026.
The appointment follows the retirement of the outgoing Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philips, whose tenure in the public service came to an end after years of service to the state. Governor Aiyedatiwa commended Philips for his contributions to Ondo State’s development and wished him success in his future endeavours.
The governor charged the new Head of Service to deploy his vast administrative experience toward strengthening the public service and advancing the goals of the administration’s OUR EASE agenda.
Chief Odusanya, born on February 6, 1967, attended St. Peter’s Primary School, Ile-Oluji, and Gboluji Anglican Grammar School for his primary and secondary education between 1972 and 1983. He later obtained a Bachelor of Agriculture degree from Obafemi Awolowo University in 1989, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from the same institution in 1992, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Ado-Ekiti in 2000.
He joined the Ondo State Public Service in September 1995 and has served in several ministries and agencies. Since his appointment as Permanent Secretary in 2019, he has held key positions in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Ondo State Civil Service Commission, and the Ministry of Transport. Until his latest appointment, he served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and was Chairman of the Forum of Permanent Secretaries in the state.
A fellow of several professional bodies, Chief Odusanya holds fellowships of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (FCIPM), the Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria (FCIPAN), and the Chartered Institute of Local Government Administration (FCLA).
He is married to Lady Oluwatoyin Odusanya, and the union is blessed with three children.
