Aiyedatiwa’s Approval of Key Infrastructure Projects Excites Ilaje Stakeholders

Akure, Ondo State

Stakeholders in Ilaje Local Government Area have welcomed the approval of several strategic infrastructure projects by the Ondo State Government, describing the development as a major boost to economic growth and connectivity in the riverine communities.
The projects, approved during a recent State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, include the canalisation of the 40-kilometre main canal from Ugbonla to Awoye with a spur to Idi Ogba, as well as the construction of concrete walkways and township roads across several communities in Ilaje.
Reacting to the approvals, the Ilaje Elite Forum (IEF) commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for what it described as a clear demonstration of his administration’s commitment to balanced development and inclusive governance across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the Forum, its Platform Administrator, Prince Ralph Oguntibeju, said the canal project would significantly improve water transportation, enhance access between communities, and stimulate commercial activities within the coastal areas.
He noted that the project is expected to unlock economic opportunities and address longstanding transportation challenges faced by residents of the riverine axis.
The Forum also praised the approval of concrete walkways in Obenla and Idiogba communities, alongside the construction of the Zion Pepe–Agerige Township Road, Bayo Phillips Road, Araromi Seaside Road, and selected roads in Igboegunrin Town.
According to Oguntibeju, the projects will improve mobility, facilitate the movement of goods and services, and contribute to a better quality of life for residents.
He added that the approvals have further strengthened public confidence in Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration, stressing that the projects would play a critical role in addressing infrastructural deficits and fostering sustainable development in Ilaje communities.
The Ilaje Elite Forum expressed gratitude to the governor, members of the State Executive Council, and other stakeholders involved in the approval process, while pledging the continued support and cooperation of the people of Ilaje for the administration’s developmental agenda.
