Ondo Govt Releases N1.1bn to Clear AAUA Salary Arrears, Urges Workers to End Strike
The Ondo State Government has approved the release of N1.1 billion as a special intervention fund to clear outstanding salary arrears owed to workers of the Adekunle Ajasin University (AAUA), in a move aimed at resolving the institution’s lingering industrial dispute.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa approved the intervention as part of his administration’s commitment to improving education and promoting workers’ welfare across the state.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the fund is intended specifically to offset outstanding salary arrears owed to members of staff and restore industrial harmony at the university.
The governor also directed the Ondo State Ministry of Finance and the university management to ensure the immediate release and disbursement of the approved funds.
He appealed to the university unions to suspend their ongoing strike and resume academic activities in the interest of students and the overall development of the institution.
Governor Aiyedatiwa said the intervention underscores his administration’s belief that a motivated workforce is essential to building a globally competitive university and strengthening the state’s education sector.
The approval was announced in a statement signed by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, on July 29, 2026.
