The Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties, Comrade Bola Taiwo, has clarified that recent comments attributed to him over the labour dispute at the Federal University of Technology, Akure Teaching Hospital (FUTA Teaching Hospital) were neither intended as a personal attack on the institution’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Segun Ojo, nor a reflection of the Ondo State Government’s official position.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Taiwo said a viral video circulating online had misrepresented his remarks, stressing that the comments were made while addressing concerns raised by workers and labour unions during efforts to resolve the industrial dispute.
He expressed regret over any misunderstanding the remarks may have caused, emphasizing that he had no intention of disparaging the Chief Medical Director or undermining his contributions to healthcare delivery in Ondo State.
The Special Adviser further clarified that his comments did not represent the position of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, noting that the Governor remains committed to supporting the health sector and values the leadership of healthcare institutions across the state.
Taiwo announced plans to begin mediation between the hospital management, labour unions, and other stakeholders with the aim of resolving all outstanding issues and restoring industrial harmony at the teaching hospital.
According to him, the Aiyedatiwa administration remains committed to protecting workers’ interests while ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services for residents of the state.
He appealed to all parties involved in the dispute to remain calm and cooperate with the mediation process in the interest of lasting peace and improved healthcare delivery.
