Ondo: 32 Artillery Brigade Exchanges Baton as Jibril Garba Takes Charge

Brigadier General Jibril Garba has taken over the command of the Headquarters 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Ondo State following the redeployment of the former Commander, Brigadier General Ifeanyi, to another command in the country. The information, as released by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, Captain Omale Innocent, said Brigadier General Jibril Garba assumed duty as the 15th Commander of the Brigade. His words:
“In line with extant military tradition, Headquarters 32 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army, witnessed a change of command on Thursday, 30 July 2026, at Owena Cantonment, Akure, Ondo State. Brigadier General Jibril Garba assumed duty as the 15th Commander of the Brigade.”
He said the outgoing Commander, Brigadier General Justin Ifeanyi, appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for the confidence reposed in him. He explained that the outgoing Commander, Brigadier General Justin Ifeanyi, appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, NAM, for the confidence reposed in him to command the Brigade. He noted that the opportunity afforded him the privilege to contribute meaningfully to national security and development.
He further commended all officers and soldiers of the Brigade for their loyalty, resilience, discipline, dedication, and support throughout his tour of duty. He stated that their collective efforts resulted in notable operational and administrative achievements. He charged all personnel to accord the incoming Commander the same support and cooperation.
According to Captain Omale, General Ifeanyi further emphasized that discipline remains the bedrock of the Brigade. Accordingly, he urged all personnel to sustain and improve on the existing standard. He also warned against the abuse of social media and reminded troops to be guided by the Nigerian Army Social Media Policy at all times. He enjoined everyone to be good ambassadors of the Brigade and the Nigerian Army.
Captain Omale Innocent reported that the highlights of the ceremony included the signing of the handing-over and taking-over documents, the transfer of the command flag, the lowering and hoisting of the command flag at the Quarter Guard, a group photograph, and a farewell address to troops.
