Isola Adekunle Moruf, of Ward 4, Sabo, Osogbo, expressed optimism that their party would be crowned with a victory at the end of the gubernatorial election in the state. Adekunle, who spoke with the Exponent Magazine News on behalf of the Chairman of his party in the state, said that he was encouraged by the large turnout of voters, contrary to the opinion of the people that the election would witness voter apathy due to the intimidation and speculation that had been spreading around that the election would be marred by violence.
According to him, he said, “You can see the way the people came out en masse to exercise their franchise, which is very good.” When asked if the table turned otherwise against the Accord Party at the end of the whole exercise, what would be the reaction of the party to the outcome? Adekunle’s response was that, “You don’t need a soothsayer to tell us what we have been seeing so far. Before the result is out, we are going to see victory, and we are going to see that everybody is supporting the party in the town, and we are good to go.”
He also commended the services of the security personnel for the good job done as they provided maximum security to the electorate. His advice to INEC was to reduce the number of people in the polling unit because of the large population of the people in the unit. According to him, the number in the unit spanned to nine hundred, which he believed was too large because there were elderly ones in the unit who were yet to cast their votes due to the large crowd. His advice to the good people of Osun State was that what was paramount to them was for them to have a good government, which Governor Ademola Adeleke had provided for the past four years and was ready to do again, and asked the people to give him full support so that they could enjoy the government.
