Mammoth Crowd as PDP Flags Off Presidential, NASS Campaigns in Ogun Central
A mammoth crowd of residents and supporters on Wednesday thronged major streets and campaign venues across Ogun Central Senatorial District as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) formally commenced its campaigns for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
The campaign train, led by the party’s Ogun State governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, alongside his deputy, Hajiya Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, the Ogun Central senatorial candidate, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, and other party chieftains, moved through the three federal constituencies in the district amid chants and solidarity songs from enthusiastic supporters.

The flag-off began in Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, where residents lined the streets and balconies around Agbado Station to welcome the PDP candidates and their entourage.
The campaign train later moved to Abeokuta North Federal Constituency, where the party’s House of Representatives candidate, Arch. Dele Olaleye, was presented to supporters. At NTA Junction, Totoro, a large crowd that had reportedly gathered from as early as 10am received the delegation with songs and cheers.
The party’s candidates, while addressing supporters, pledged purposeful representation and urged voters to support the PDP at both the senatorial and federal constituency levels.
The campaign recorded another massive turnout in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, where Hon. Toyin Amuzu is the PDP House of Representatives candidate. Thousands of supporters followed the campaign convoy to Ake Pavilion, venue of the Ogun Central flag-off rally.
Addressing the gathering, Adebutu urged voters in Ogun Central to support Senator Obasanjo, describing her as a tested and trusted candidate whose previous record in office had not been matched.
He said the district must reject what he described as non-performance and embrace what he called liberation through effective representation.
Adebutu also urged supporters to come out en masse to vote for the PDP on January 16, 2027, and to remain vigilant and protect their votes against intimidation.
Obasanjo, in her remarks, said she was encouraged by the reception she had received across the district, noting that residents continued to recall projects and interventions she undertook during her previous representation.
She pledged to do more to improve the lives of the people and ensure that they benefit from the dividends of democracy.
Several residents and supporters who spoke at the rallies pledged their support for the PDP candidates and assured the party of their votes in January.
“We will vote and stand by our votes for PDP,” they declared.
