Adelegbe Urges Better Rewards for Teachers, Celebrates Teachers’ Day
Member of the House of Representatives representing Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, Hon. Otunba Oluwatimehin Adelegbe, has called for improved recognition and welfare for teachers, saying their contributions to nation-building deserve greater appreciation.
Adelegbe, who is also the APC candidate for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency seat, made the call in a message commemorating this year’s Teachers’ Day.
He described teachers as critical to the development of society, noting that professionals, leaders, entrepreneurs and experts across different fields were products of the teaching profession.
According to him, “Without teachers, there can be no nation. Every professional, leader, entrepreneur, and expert in the various fields of endeavour in life are all products of teachers.”
He commended teachers for their dedication, patience, sacrifice and commitment to shaping the minds and character of future generations.
Adelegbe noted that the influence of teachers extends beyond the classroom, as they contribute to raising responsible citizens and strengthening society.
He also prayed for long life for teachers to enable them enjoy the fruits of their labour and witness the positive impact of the lives they have influenced.
The federal lawmaker further called for a change in the popular expression that “teachers’ rewards are in heaven,” arguing that the saying should not be used to justify the neglect of teachers.
He stressed that teachers deserved to enjoy the rewards of their work while still alive, given the important role they play in the development of society.
Adelegbe wished teachers a happy Teachers’ Day and appreciated them for their contributions to humanity and nation-building.
