She was speaking during an interview on the program “The Inside “ on Equinox television on March 13th.
“ Lagos is not a transit town to Europe. Most Cameroonians come here to work so they can have money to go through the North to get to Europe. Our first headache here is those Cameroonians who come with the intentions of transiting to Europe,” she explained.
She noted that most of these Cameroonians get into problems with immigration authorities and the police.
“ most of the time we are been called up by the police to come and identify our Cameroonian brothers for repatriation back to Cameroon. Most times they are overwhelmed by the number of Cameroonians that come in,”.

She says it is not within their mandate to carry out repatriation but due to some humanitarian reasons, they have to ensure that some persons are been repatriated to Cameroon.

“Sometimes the consular services visit the prison. For example, those that go and commit offenses are been held by the police. The consulate provides legal advice and sometimes even gets to the Ministry of External Relations to contact their families back in Cameroon,”. She stated.

She urges Cameroonians to respect the legal laws and provisions of Nigeria and any other country they move to.

She advised they get all their legal documents and papers before moving into another country in other to make their stay favorable.
