APC Ward 10 Crisis: Chairman Rejects Alleged Interference, Vows to Defend Mandate

8th October, 2026.

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure South Ward 10, Hon. Omosuyi Adekunle, has vowed to resist what he described as attempts to undermine the recognised leadership structure of the party in the ward.
Adekunle, in a statement on the growing crisis within the ward, said the mandate given to him through the party’s internal democratic process could not be taken away by force or through what he described as actions capable of destabilising the party at the grassroots.
He expressed concern over the alleged involvement of the Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Hon. Fasua, in the internal affairs of the ward, saying such interference could create division and weaken the existing party structure.
According to him, he was legally elected as the ward chairman and remained committed to protecting the mandate entrusted to him by APC members.
Adekunle also alleged that unit coordinators had been appointed across various units in the ward, with each person allegedly paying ₦3,000 in connection with the appointments.
He described the allegation as troubling, saying that if established, it would raise questions about the credibility and integrity of the process.
The ward chairman further alleged that some individuals who were not part of the established structure had been brought into the system, claiming that the development was linked to attempts to control funds expected from forthcoming political activities.
He also faulted the reported use of a hotel as a venue for party meetings, arguing that the practice was inconsistent with the established tradition of APC Ward 10, where meetings had traditionally been conducted through recognised party structures.
“Ward 10 has never been known for conducting its official party affairs in hotels, and we cannot allow practices capable of eroding the identity, discipline and organisational structure of the party to become the new normal,” he said.
Adekunle said party leaders and stakeholders in the ward had met to deliberate on the situation and resolved to defend what they considered the legitimate structure and mandate of the party.
He said the position of the stakeholders was not motivated by personal ambition or hostility towards any individual, but by the need to promote justice, fairness, internal democracy and respect for the party’s established structures.
He acknowledged the support of several party leaders and stakeholders, including Hon. Margaret Gbadamosi, Hon. Olu Ibitoye, Hon. Ayo Alogba, Iya Ogungbade and Hon. Ola, among others, who he said had expressed their opposition to what they considered injustice within the ward.
Adekunle appealed to APC members to remain calm and law-abiding, while urging the appropriate party authorities and stakeholders to intervene in the matter before it escalates.
He maintained that the APC in Ward 10 belonged to all its members and should be governed in accordance with the party’s constitution, democratic principles and the wishes of legitimately elected members.
“We remain committed to peace, unity and the progress of the APC, but we shall equally stand firmly against every action we believe threatens justice and internal democracy,” he said.
Adekunle is also a Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor..

WARD 10 APC CRISIS: OUR MANDATE CANNOT BE TAKEN BY FORCE — OMOSUYI ADEKUNLE

“We Will Resist Every Attempt to Destroy the Party’s Democratic Structure — Ward Chairman

I, Hon. Omosuyi Adekunle, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akure South Ward 10, wish to express my deep disappointment and concern over what I consider to be a deliberate attempt to undermine the existing democratic structure and unity of our great party in the ward.

I was legally elected as the Chairman of APC in Ward 10, and I remain committed to protecting the mandate freely given to me by the members of our party. It is therefore disturbing to witness developments that, in my view, are aimed at weakening the authority of the legally constituted ward leadership.

Of particular concern is the alleged interference of the Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Hon. Fasua, in the internal affairs of APC Ward 10. We are totally dismayed by what we regard as actions capable of creating unnecessary division, confusion and instability within the party at the grassroots.

We are particularly concerned by allegations that unit coordinators have been appointed across the various units of the ward, allegedly after payments of ₦3,000 by each of the persons involved. Such allegations, if established, raise serious questions about the integrity and credibility of the process. He brought strange people into system as a way to corner the upcoming election money.

The development has become even more worrisome because, since these appointments, party meetings have reportedly been held in a hotel rather than at a recognised party secretariat. This is a situation that is completely strange to the tradition and history of APC Ward 10.

For years, our party has operated through established structures and recognised party meetings. Ward 10 has never been known for conducting its official party affairs in hotels, and we cannot allow practices capable of eroding the identity, discipline and organisational structure of the party to become the new normal.

Today, leaders and stakeholders of APC in Ward 10 came together to deliberate on the situation and expressed their collective determination to defend the integrity of the party and protect the legitimate mandate of the ward leadership.

After extensive deliberation, the leaders resolved that we shall not sit down and watch injustice prevail.

We acknowledge the support and courage of party leaders and stakeholders who have expressed their readiness to stand against what they consider to be injustice. Among those who have spoken strongly on the matter are Hon. Margaret Gbadamosi, Hon. Olu Ibitoye, Hon. Ayo Alogba, Iya Ogungbade, Hon. Ola and several other committed members and leaders of our great party.

Our position is not motivated by personal ambition, bitterness or hostility towards any individual. Rather, it is a principled struggle for justice, fairness, internal democracy and respect for the legitimate structures of the APC. We believe that no individual, regardless of position, should be allowed to destroy the established party structure for personal or political convenience.

I therefore call on all APC members in Ward 10 to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding, while appealing to the appropriate party authorities and relevant stakeholders to urgently intervene before the situation degenerates further.

Let it be clearly understood that the APC in Ward 10 belongs to all its members, and its structures must be governed by the party constitution, democratic principles and the will of its legitimately elected members. We remain committed to peace, unity and the progress of the APC, but we shall equally stand firmly against every action we believe threatens justice and internal democracy.

Signed:
Hon. Omosuyi Adekunle
Chairman, APC Akure South Ward 10, Special Assistant to Governor
