‎O.A.U.: Students Protest Against Management Decision on Transport. ‎

The National Library of Nigeria ,Ondo State Branch like their counterpart members in other branches across the Nation still continue their strike which was declared last year October,2021. By their Union- Joint Association of Research Institute and Allied Institution Sector Union (JORAISU) of which the National Library is a member. The union was on strike over some contending issues ranging from not payment of the monetisation arrears and not implementation of retirement age of 65 years and host of others.
A source who does not want his name written on print said that ” We are a member of the JORAISU and they have declared strike since last year October,2022 over some issues which has persistent up to this time. But we still run a skyletal services. The only different their is that Library user or member of the Public would not be able to have access to our books for consultation “.
In another development, the meeting of the JORAISU held with the Honourable Minister of State Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment on the 16th August 2022 which was joitly signed by the General Secretary- NASU/ Chairman JORAISU, Comrade Peters .A. Adeyemi (JP) and General Secretary– SSAUTHRIAl, Comrade Ezekiel, O. Popoola-PhD and a copy the letter was made available to the Pressmen as read in part ” Increase in Retirement age: Concerning the report of the Governments / JORAISU Aub- committee which approved the increase in retirement ages of non- academic staff of Research and Development Institutes from 60years to 65 years and Chief Research Officers from 65 years to 79 years , the reports was adopted. However, on the implementation, it was agreed that the method used to get the Universities , polytechnic and College of Education Staff increase in retirement age be adopted and referred to the Ministry of Justice to do the needful.
As it is now ,the National Library staff are still continue with the their but skelectal services is still going on in form of collecting legal deposit of book from the Authors , receiving News papers and issuing the Internal Serial Standard Number- ISSN to the public.
