In order to ease the congestion being faced by students during meal at Federal Government Girls College, Akure, the Ondo State capital, the Parent Teacher Association led by Comrade Eniola Olushola Esq, built and delivered a 1,500 capacity Dining Hall to the school.

The project which gave the school an infrastructural boost was completed within one and a half year.

According to the Chairman of the PTA, Comrade Olushola, stressed that food is essential to the growth of children and eating in an unconducive atmosphere may tamper with the assimilation level of a child.

He said the project would help complement the school’s efforts on infrastructural development and consequently praised the school Director and Principal for her developmental strides in upholding the school’s standard.

The Chairman credited the success of the project to the supportive roles of the Director and Principal and particularly the parents and guardians who contributed significantly to the actualisation of the lofty project.

The new Dining Hall which is equipped with washing hand facilities, tables and chairs was inherited from the past PTA Executives, but had to be restructured to effectively served the students.

The special guest at the inuguration of the Dining Hall, the Iresi of Osi Land in Akure North Local Government, His Royal Majesty Oba David Okunato, congratulated the Association and the School Management for completing the befitting project, adding that it was under a cooperative atmosphere that success and progress could be achieved as being witnessed.

The Monarch who inugurated the facility charged the beneficiaries, the students to make judicious use of the facility so that it could stand the test of time.

In her remarks, the Director/Principal of the school, Mrs Adenike Idiat Lawal described the PTA of the School as unique in their giant strides to contribute meaningfully to the development of the school and urged them to continue in that direction.

While noting that the project and various contributions of the PTA will remain indelible marks, she enjoined the parents to be more cooperative with the school on its rules and regulations, especially on zero tolerance to examination malpractices, warning that the full disciplinary actions would be taking against any student found wanting.

She further advised the parents to always discourage their children from bringing in contraband items such as phones, laptops among others to the school, as the school will not compromise on its laid down rules and regulations for the students.

Mrs Lawal revealed that the performance of the students in the last Junior Secondary School Examination was successful just as the performance of students who participated in the last Joint Admission and Matriculation Board examinations recorded outstanding success also.

The Dinning Hall project was among the outstanding projects such as solar powered light, digging of borehole, mounting of CCTV, renovation of existing building and employment of PTA Teaching and other non Teaching staff projects carried out by the PTA in the school so as to make learning conducive.
