PRELUDE TO THE BACKGROUND .

The existence of Humanity from the cradle of the Earth, based on the principles of reality and sincerity, when the Olodumare first created Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. Things were going on smoothly due to adherence to the rules and regulations laid down by their Maker to the first two creatures. Suddenly, everything turned upside down for the two occupants of the garden of Eden, when lies, disobedience and insincerity was brought in by the so called Devil and the action caused everlasting shame and dishonour to the violators of the rules of engagement and as such, their golden identity was dented for life because of their acts of insincerity. It’s against this backdrop that the theme  ‘the reality in a creative narrative centered about the significance of maintaining the importance of our identity in any career we find ourselves in the society, because whatever action we take now can block our blessings from others in the future, due to our level of insincerity.

THE REALITY IN A CREATIVE NARRATIVE EPISODE

Now, the reality in the creative narrative episode started some years ago between a successful Farmer called, Chief Johnson and one Surveyor Paul, in the land of Oyo State. The surveyor was recommended to Chief Johnson by someone and after the much I do, both of them engaged themselves in a business discussion and at the end, agreement was reached between the two of them to transact a business together.

Chief Johnson gave the Surveyor three Million naira and above ( N3m & above) as an amount charged by the Surveyor to survey some acres of Lands and immediately the said amount was paid into the Surveyoy’s account, it was expected by the client, Chief Johnson that the job of surveying would begin perhaps the following day or week. So Chief Johnson believed that his Surveyor would do a thorough job for him and his company, since he had paid for the service and he had no reason to doubt the Surveyor’s ability and competency. As such, he left him and went to his home and the following day, Chief Johnson traveled abroad for one engagement.

THE BIG ISSUE

When Chief Johnson returned from his trip abroad, he got a call from his Surveyor that the job could not be done because the said Land to be surveyed, was located in the Government reserved and upon hearing this message, Chief Johnson (A successful Farmer) said there was no problem, since the land is in the Government reserved area and the job was not done, all you have to do now is to refund my money and I will use it for another thing.

Hmmn, upon hearing this message, he (The Surveyor) quickly said to him that, “although the job was not done but I had incured some expenses like two hundred thousand naira (N200,000) out of the money and I will balance you the rest”. Chief Johnson said there was no problem,  and  he asked him to paid the balance  to his secretary. Then Surveyor Paul obliged to transfer the money as soon as he gets home to his Secretary as directed.

WILL THE PROMISE BE FULFILLED?

Two months later, Chief Johnson’ s Secretary was to do some works in the office and she went to meet her Boss for the money that would be used to carry out the work. Then her Boss said that she should go and take from the money he asked the Surveyor to pay to her. That was when the Secretary told her Boss that the man had not paid the money yet. The Chief had to call the Surveyor on the phone, The phone was ringing but he didn’t pick the call. At times, when the Chief call him, his line would not be reachable and in some cases, the line would be switched off. That was when Chief Johnson ( A successful Farmer) realized that he had entered one chance.

Then Chief Johnson concluded to reach him through his Lawyer. When his lawyer served Surveyor Paul’s notice of Court litigation, the man (Surveyor Paul ) had no choice  than to reach his client by fire by thunder for remedy. When the Paul arrived he didn’t even allow Chief Johnson to say a word when he  (Surviyor Paul) started begging Chief Johnson that he had spent all the money to pay the school fees of his children and that Chief Johnson should forgive him, as he didn’t even know when to pay back the money. Upon hearing this words from the Surveyor’s mouth, Chief Johnson was perplexed about his dubious act and he screamed aloud. He said “can you imagine, I didn’t expect you to behave like this”. After much begging, Chief Johnson had to forgive him and asked his Lawyer to withdraw the litigation against him and the matter was settled, just like that.

A NEW SERVICE PROVIDER DISCOVERED

In another development, a reputable Chartered Account officer who had his accounting firm closer to the Premises of Surviyor Paul, Mr Brainliant happened to be the accounting Officer to Chief Johnson’s Company.  The man had been doing great in the auditing job for this successful Farmer. So, this Chartered Accountant called Mr Brainliant, happened to be a President of a particular Association and he was to do Investiture alongside his executives, so he had to send out letters to some of his friends to come and celebrate with him. Two of his incoming executive members took the letter to Chief Johnson in his office. He received the two gentle men with warm reception, so he opened and read the letter. Upon seeing the names written below the Letter Head of the Association that would carryout the Investiture, he found the names of his external Accountant or Auditor Mr Brainliant and other names he knew among the executive members of the Association and he made his comments that he would honour the invitation.

THE DISCOVERY SCENE IN PROGRESS.

While the two gentle men who went to deliver the letter were still in Chief Johnson’s office, conversation came up among them. There, the Chief Johnson praised one of the names he seen in the Letter Head and explained how the person had helped him in getting Tractors, without collecting any money from him. He said ever since then, he had not set his eyes on the person. It was in the cause of the discussion that the two gentle men that went to deliver the letter had to reveal their profession. One said his name was Mr Victor and he works as an Educationist in the Ministry and the other said his name was Mr Favour and he practiced as a Surveyor. Immediately the second person finished introducing himself to the Chief Johnson, the Chief remembered the nasty experience he had with Surveyor Paul and started narrating the ugly experience he had with him of which he was refered to as in matured man. The man said he had a bitter experience with him which he would never forget in his life.

DESIRE GOOD OR BAD TESTIMONY ?

Then Chief Johnson asked Surveyor Favour if he knew the dubious Surveyor Paul, that squandered his three Million naira and above. His response was yes, he said that the man in question doesn’t have any integrity in their association, as everyone had known him to be a man of questionable character.
At the end, Chief Johnson, Surveyor Favour and Mr Victor the Educationist, exchanged their contacts and as luck would have it, both Chief Johnson and Surveyor Favour’s office were located in the same street, without them knowing each other for years.
With this relationship between Chief Johnson and Surveyor Favour, I think it would be good for me to draw from the wealth of knowledge of our forefathers, which says that good name is better than Silver and Gold. Then the big question is, are you sincere with your client?
