Ondo Public Pry Schools Needs Govt Support.
By Olusegun HOSEA, Akure, 3rd October, 2023.

The Public Primary Schools in Ondo State particularly in Akure South Local Government area of the state, needs some government intervention in the area of Security personnel, to mann the school gate in order to prevent the movement of any unauthorize persons and to protect the lives and properties of the schools in those areas.

A visit to some of these schools by our correspondence particularly, shows that some of these schools doesn’t have any Security personnels that would prevent the pupils from going in and out of the school. For instance, Ogo Oluwa Primary School in Oda Road has no perimeter fencing let alone Security personnels that would manned the gate and at the same time they also need a library that would be well equiped with relevant pupils texts books to enhance learning.

Also, schools like the Iro Titun Community Primary school, had a perimeter fencing and gate but no security personnel to curtain the pupils, not enough furnitures for the pupils to seat comfortably on while lessons are going on.
Although most of the learners were’nt doing bad in their academic performance as showned on their examination records. But the government needs to do more in the area of recruitment of Teachers, to support those hands that are still in the field, as most of the teachers teaching in most of our primary schools are of higher grade levels and are almost at the verge of their retirement and there is need for government to recruit some young energetic teachers that would improve the quality of teaching and learning in our primary schools.

Similarly, most of the learners in these schools do not posses relevant recommended textbooks that would enhance independent learning, as most of the Learner’s parents can’t afford the texts book due to the high prices.
