The Vice Principal of Community Grammar School ,Orioke-Iwamimo in Ilaje Local government area of Ondo State, Hon Justus Adebayo Isogun, has lamented about the deplorable situation of the school particularly the office of the Principal, the Vice Principal and the classroom of which the environment had been saturated by the water.

Disclosing this to the Pressmen in the Orioke-Iwamimo, Hon. Justus Adebayo Isogun said learners usually sat on the bear floor as the school is lacking the furniture the learners needs to sit down comfortably while teaching and learning is going.
Hon, Isogun, was a former Counsellor in Ilaje Local government, an old student of the CGSO and now the vice principal of the school. He said the school is having shortage of Teachers and lack of luckers and chairs as their learners usually sat on the floor during the examinations. His words ” I am a former Students of that place and presently I am the Vice Principal of the school .

The school is having a lot of problems but taking it from priority level,we are having shortage of Teachers “. He explained that since the inception of the school in 1977, it’s the PTA that had been assisting them in term of infrastructural development in the school.
Explaining further , Hon Isogun said the only things state and local Government did was the building of the staff quarters for the staff that are living there. He said it was the PTA that had been responsible for the development of the school.. When visiting the quarters , the whole building both the wall and the inside the building are in a sorry condition as all the structures are almost collapsing. He said the whole structure are sinking due to the waterlogged around the compound. He said the school is soliciting help from those who could whether the government and other people that could help should come to there aid . He said most of the Teachers posted to the school do not like to stay due to the poor situation of the school.

Similarly, Hon. Isogun said apart from the waterlog, the school is facing the sea Incursion problem most especially when the sea overflow it’s bank and the water usually covered the whole school compound and this was causing disturbances to the teaching and learning. He said when you see the principal office you would feel sorry as the water normally covered every as the place had gone down as depressor had taken place due to these oil spillages. He said this thing used to happen when there is high tide rises every months. He explained that till today now, there was no government structure since the school was established in 1977 .

 

He is calling on the government to come to their Aid in order to ameliorate the suffering. His way” If you go there now you can see things for yourself. You can not go inside the principal office. In fact you will see one chair and Table outside there, that is where I and the principal used to stay. Presently we are having seven male Teachers In the school with almost seven hundred learners”

The school who would be having their inter house sports competition on Tuesday 26th, February,2024 for learners to develop their athletic skills but the fear of the rising high tide of the sea may disturbed them according to the Vice Principal of the school. He said they are just living at the mercy of God as it now , if it rains or there is high tide rises that would be the end of the game. He said there was no treckable road to the school and he is calling on the government to come and support them in this regard as the road had sunk due to the oil spillage as learners could not go to the classroom whenever it rains.
