As the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for the gubernatorial primary election in Ondo State, the pioneer chairmen of the APC from across the local government areas in the State have thrown their support behind Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s candidacy.

Leading the delegation of the pioneer chairmen on a solidarity visit to the Governor’s office on Monday, Hon. Rasheed Badmus, former Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, emphasized their active engagement in the party and backing of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s vision for Ondo State.

Badmus highlighted the divine providence in Aiyedatiwa’s emergence as Governor, descriving him as the best hand to fly the flag of the APC in the coming governorship election.

The group requested for their inclusion in the forthcoming campaign, citing their past track record of success and their determination to secure victory for Governor Aiyedatiwa.

“We affirm our readiness to work with you, unwavering in our allegiance and firm in our resolve, free from external influence. We want to use this opportunity to request inclusion in your forthcoming campaign because the importance of transparent party involvement cannot be overlooked”, Badmus added.

Similarly, Mr. Oredola Jacob expressed confidence in Governor Aiyedatiwa’s suitability for the role, urging him to prioritize reconciliation within the party and to remain steadfast in the face of opposition.

“We are pleased to be present here to align ourselves with you. It is imperative that we foster reconciliation within the party, as the party plays a pivotal role in winning elections. It’s unrealistic to expect unanimous support, but be rest assured, the majority stands in your favour”, he said.

Responding, Governor Aiyedatiwa commended Hon. Badmus for his exemplary leadership and assured the delegation of his commitment to their cause. He pledged to uphold their trust and to ensure the active involvement of the party in his administration.

The Governor said: “We’ve endured countless trials together as a party, yet with each challenge, our unity grows stronger. For me, the essence of our party lies in its structure; division has no place in our collective journey. We stand united in purpose, and I want to express my profound gratitude for your steadfast commitment over the years.

“Now is the time to reap the rewards of our collective efforts. Your dedication fills me with joy, and I’m thrilled to see all of you here. I extend my heartfelt congratulations in advance, for this is our moment. Though the path ahead may seem daunting, let us remain steadfast in our pursuit of our shared goals. Our party is our home, and it’s crucial that we stand together.

“As always, the will of the majority guides our party’s decisions, and I am committed to earning your trust. Together, we achieved success during the Akeredolu/Aiyedatiwa 2020 campaign, and I have no doubt that we can do it again.”

Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering support for the pioneer chairmen and pledged to work collaboratively with them to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and organizational capacity.

Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan,

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State.
