A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Dr. Olajide Owoka, has described the performance of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State as commendable, considering his devotion to infrastructural upgrade and human empowerment.

Owoka gave the commendation in Ute, his countryhome of Ose Local Government area, while receiving leaders of the party in the locality, on Thursday.

The Russia-trained International Relations expert and mogul, remarked that his recent tour of communities in the 18 local councils in the state gave screaming validity to the need to elect the governor for a full-term of four years.

“I took it upon myself to go round the state nine months into the administration of Governor Aiyedatiwa and I found to my delight that several road projects are at completion stages, while several new projects have also been inaugurated.

“I got to know that the governor mobilised many of the contractors back to site and also initiated fresh projects, ensuring that the gesture equitably spread across communities in the 18 local government areas.

“Besides, Mr. Governor had reached out to us to know the basic needs in our communities here in Ondo North Senatorial District and I can confirm that he did same thing for communities in the two other Senatorial districts,” Owoka applauded.

Owoka, who has been in the progressives’ circles since 1999, averred that, ” there is no vacancy in Alagbaka Government House in Akure, considering that Governor Aiyedatiwa who took over following the passage of his boss, the late former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, has exceeded our expectations in terms of performance”.

He recalled that Aiyedatiwa, upon assuming office late December last year, cleared all backlogs of unpaid salaries, allowances, pensions, and gratuities, putting smiles on the faces of public workers and retirees alike.

“I’m particularly touched that we have a governor with the milk of human kindness virtually running through his veins, as he set aside over N2 billion as soft loans to peasant farmers, petty, traders, and struggling entrepreneurs.

“This is apart from the fact that he has been giving palliative allowance to civil servants and has been providing free bus shuttles to school children across the state,” Owoka lauded.

The party chieftain, however, appealed to politicians in the state to eschew violence and allow peace to reign during this electioneering campaigns, stressing, “We all remain brothers and sisters regardless of political differences”.

“We should be guided by the sore reminiscences of the political bloodshed that occurred in our clime way back in 1983, and we should for that reason prove to the whole world that we have outgrown such bestiality and that we are on the noble pathway of socio-polical advancement, ” Owoka counselled.
