ONDO EMERGES 2ND OVERALL BEST AT THE 774 YOUNG NIGERIAN SCIENTISTS PRESIDENTIAL AWARD COMPETITION IN ABUJA.

An indigene of Ondo State, Master Adedowole Oluwajuwon Benjamin, has emerged the overall Second Best Nigerian Scientist of the Year, at the recently concluded 774 Young Nigerian Scientists Presidential Award (774 YONSPA) competition in Abuja, the Nation’s Capital.

‎O.A.U.: Students Protest Against Management Decision on Transport. ‎

The 774 Young Nigerian Scientists Presidential Award (774 YONSPA), is a programme of the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, aimed at developing the interest of young Nigerians in sciences across the 774 Local Government Areas of the country, through competitive examinations.

The annual programme is to enable the Federal Government identify 774 talented young Nigerians that will be in a position to compete internationally and eventually become renowned Laureates in sciences.

The 7th edition of the programme that ended recently in Abuja, began with competitive examinations at the Local Government level, while states also conducted examinations to select the finalists that eventually represented their states at the competition in Abuja.

Announcing the result in Abuja, Minister of Science and Technology, Hon. (Senator) Adeleke Mamora, in a statement, congratulated the government and people of Ondo State for the brilliant performance of it’s representative at the competition.

“I am pleased to inform you that the Ondo State efforts to support and strengthen science teaching and learning were rewarded when your student emerged one of the three overall best positions at the National Final Examination of the 774 YONSPA of the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, on Monday 22nd November, 2022”

Master Adedowole Oluwajuwon Benjamin, of Greater Tomorrow International College, Arigidi-Akoko, represented Ondo State at the annual national competition and emerged the 2nd overall best.

Awards will be presented to the three overall best students at the competition (Best Young Nigerian Scientists of the Year), by President Mohammad Buhari in Abuja at the opening ceremony of the forthcoming Science, Technology and Innovation Expo on Monday 16th January, 2023.

Speaking on the development, Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olufemi Agagu FNIVS, described the feat as a manifestation of the state government’s favourable policies and investments in the education sector.

Mr. Agagu thanked the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN, CON) for his administration’s investments in education which he said has resulted in excellent performances of our students both at national and international competitions.
