The administration of Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Monday received an overwhelming support from the chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ondo West local government area of the State.

The party leaders, led by a member of the House of Representatives (Ondo West/Ondo East Federal Constituency), Hon. Biola Makinde, were hosted by the Governor at the Presidential Lodge of the Government House in Akure.

Numbering about 30, the party leaders included Rtd Gen. Funso Oyeneyin, Hon. Bola Ilori, Hon. Ade Adeniyi, Engr Dele Olanubi, Hon Ebenezer Akinsulire, Chief Mrs Cecilia Ifayase, Hon. Tayo Awosika, Dr. Jibayo Adeyeye, Chief Mrs Adenike Olawoye, Chief Patrick Ogundolie, Hon. Wale Gbakinro, Dr. Wale Fasakin and Hon. Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju.

Speaking on behalf of the party leaders, Hon. Makinde said the visit was to show support of the party leaders for the new administration in the State and to intimate the Governor with the needs of Ondo Kingdom.

Acknowledging Ondo West as the second-largest constituency in the state, Makinde emphasized the collaborative efforts that have consistently delivered election victories in the State through Ondo Kingdom.

Also speaking, Adeniyi, Ilori, Adeyeye and others affirmed the unwavering support and loyalty of the major stakeholders of the party in Ondo to the Aiyedatiwa administration.

The party leaders echoed a commitment to teamwork, emphasizing their collective promise to work in unison to fulfill the governor’s mandate.

Recognizing the importance of party unity, they pledged solidarity and assured Governor Aiyedatiwa that Ondo West would rally behind him, recognizing the challenges ahead in politics and governance.

They commended the Governor for including in the 2024 budget the construction of a new bypass road to link Itanla to Ondo/Ore Road through Barracks/Ayeyemi.

The party leaders also pleaded with the Governor to look into bringing back to life the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, which they said has been a shadow of its old self.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, in response, expressed appreciation for the visit from the party leaders, adding that their support is one he will not take for granted.

The Governor commended their love for their community and assured them of reciprocating the support they have shown to him, stressing that Ondo West would not be denied its due share in political patronage and infrastructural development.

He thanked the leaders for acknowledging the new bypass road to be constructed, adding that he has also approved rehabilitation of selected roads in Ondo township.

Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan,
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State.
