Journalists Are The Eye Of The People -Aiyedatiwa

The Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has described Journalists as the eye of the people due to the great roles they played in informing and defending democracy and the rights of the masses, as well as holding the government accountable through their reportage . Disclosing this in Akure at the sixth anniversary cum launching of the Sunshine Truth Charity Foundation . The programme featured award of excellence presented to some of the great personality that had created niches for themselves in the society.The Governor said he recognizes the values and the character the Pressmen exhibited when the state needed such attributes during the turbulence political era in the past few months in our dear state. Aiyedatiwa who was represented by Rasaq Obe who is the Commissioner of Energy and Mineral Resources said governor valued the resilient of the Pressmen at all times. He described his Boss as someone who normally think outside the box when it comes to findings solutions to the issues relating to the economy in the society and others social vices .
In another development, the governor spoke about the current high inflation, rise of dollars and the low purchase power of the citizens of which are the problems that are facing the economy of our country right now and that government are planning tirelessly in addressing all those problems by thinking outside the box in solving the issues. He also talked about his stewardshipness and the infrastructural development the government had put in place for the benefits of the good people of Ondo State. He mentioned the development embarked upon in the areas of Agriculture, education and the on going efforts in ensuring their is stable electricity for the people of Ondo State.

Similarly, the programme which featured awards and launching of charity foundation as announced by the chief Executive of the organization Comrade Prince Leke Adegbite said the only way for the organization to give back to the society was for them to launch the charity foundation which was meant to be helping the indigents people in the society. According to him, the establishment of the Sunshine Truth Media was meant to correct the ills of the society through the prompt release of the various stories on issues that have impact on the society.
Some of the personalities that received award of excellence were Pastor Dayo Johnson, a senior and oldest Journalist, in Ondo State who is a South West coordinator of the Vanguard newspaper was honored, Hon Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi – The Majority leader of ODHA- Represented by Hon Afolabi Alex. Hon. Olubunmi Tunji- Ojo, Yemi Fasipe-, DR Omosehin Adeyemi Osowe- who is the Chairman Ondo Nigerian Medical Association, NMA . Others are Dr Adelami ,D’Gov Ondo State who was represented by Ademola Taofik , Comrade Akinzue Sunday – Secretary of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, HRM Oba (DR ) Samuel Olamide Adeoye Edema, The Malokun of Atijere Kingdom and host of others.
The Guest speaker, Engr.Ayotunde Bally, who ought to have spoken on the Theme:”2024 Governorship Election: Integrating Qualities of next Ondo State Governor Amidst Economic Hardship” did not arrived early from Lagos to Akure due to the delayed in his flight, however apologized to the audience for coming late and urged the media practitioners in the state to report accurately on the the political matter . He said they should always remember that this is the only State we have and we should try as much as possible to maintain peace during this political moment so that everything could go well during and after the Primaries of the political parties.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of Nigeria Union of Persioners ,Ondo State, Comrade Akinzue Sunday appealed to the Government of the state to as a matter of urgency paid the ten thousand naira wages award arrears owned their members in order to cushion the effects of the economic hardship among their members.
The awardees appreciated the organiser for putting up this kind of event as the programm happened to be a way of promoting the art works of the journalism in the country. They all Admonished the Publisher to continue his good work by upholding the ethics and the ethos of the journalism profession as they all pledged their unalloyed support to the charity Foundation and the works of the journalism in the state.
