Minimum wages: Workers expect speed Action From FG.
Olusegun HOSEA.28th June, 2024.

It has been a thing of concerns as the entire workforce of the country both public and private are yarning for the speed implementation of the proposed living wages of N250k by the NLC and TUC  while Federal government plan to offer N62K for the Nigeria workers by the Federal Government of Nigeria as workers are imploring the government to expedite action towards the financial fulfillment of the minimum wages.

Recall that the tripartite committee established by the FG for the negotiation the national minimum wages started their activities since last year till date now negotiations are still  ongoing on the subject matter yet the increase in the price of the commodities are going up every day and this has affected the purchases power of most Nigeria workers.
According to the Vanguard news ,the Nigerian Labour Congress cautions state governors against exhibiting dictatorial tendencies amidst the ongoing minimum wage discussions. While the governors from the south west are of the opinion that FG should allowed them to pay what they can afford to their workers, but this arrangement may not go down well with the workers due to the fact that the open market does not discriminate the rich from the poor as they both patronizes the public market hence the governors should be inline with the turn of the federal government and labour proposal since they are getting more money these days from the Federal Allocation.

The Nigerian Governors Forum promises to continue engaging with key stakeholders to reach to reach a mutually agreeable solutions it’s now the economic council is yet to take decision over the matter as the VP presides the meeting.
