Hon.  Maurice Oripenaye, the Executive Chairman of Ilaje Local Government (LG), today received a delegation from the National Association of Ilaje Students (NAIS) at his office. The delegation, led by NAIS National President Comrade Franklin Amuwa, presented various concerns impacting the student community in the region, ranging from social vices to educational support.

During the meeting, Comrade Amuwa highlighted key issues plaguing Ilaje students, including drug abuse, cultism, indecent dressing, and examination malpractices. He suggested the implementation of sensitization and orientation programs to raise awareness about the dangers of these vices. Amuwa also proposed a leadership summit to equip students with the skills necessary to become responsible political leaders.

On the matter of student welfare, the NAIS President requested the continuation of student bursaries, the provision of a dedicated student bus for mobility, and greater inclusion of students in the decision-making processes of the LG administration. He also called for more substantial support for the NAIS Secretariat, as well as improved stipends for students undergoing industrial training.

In response, Chairman Oripenaye expressed his strong commitment to supporting the students, affirming that their welfare is a top priority. He promised to visit the NAIS Secretariat site to assess how best he can assist with the project. Additionally, the Chairman confirmed plans to provide the requested bus for student mobility and reiterated his dedication to ensuring the payment of the LG bursary.

“I am deeply committed to the welfare of my people, including Ilaje students. I will continue to serve with unwavering integrity and dedication,” said Hon. Oripenaye.

The meeting concluded with mutual appreciation for the positive collaboration between the Ilaje LG and the student body, setting the stage for future partnerships aimed at empowering the youth of Ilaje.

E-signed: Hon. Sadare Taiwo, Media Aide to Ilaje LG Executive Chairman.
