Ondo Government Releases Another N49 Million for Health Agency Office Completion

By Exponent News Akure, May 2 2025

In a fresh boost to the state’s healthcare infrastructure, the Ondo State Government has released another N49 million for the completion of the office complex within the premises of the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency.

This was announced by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) representative, Taiwo Fashoranti, during the official flag-off of the 2025 National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) in Akure. He emphasized the state’s commitment to strengthening primary health care delivery, particularly in curtailing vaccine-preventable diseases.

Fashoranti highlighted that despite economic challenges and other competing demands, the government has consistently funded the Primary Health Care Development Agency to ensure the effectiveness of immunization programs across all 18 local government areas. This, he noted, has led to a significant reduction in neonatal and under-one mortality rates in the state.

He further disclosed that strategic immunization outreach sessions are regularly conducted through the 586 primary health care facilities across the state, aimed at increasing routine immunization coverage in rural communities.

As part of measures to maintain vaccine potency, the government had earlier released N49 million for diesel purchases to ensure uninterrupted power supply at the state cold chain store—an intervention he clarified was not a one-time effort.

Reiterating the state’s zero tolerance for polio, Fashoranti lauded healthcare workers for their commitment, especially in underserved areas, and called on parents, caregivers, and community leaders to support the upcoming house-to-house immunization campaign.

The flag-off ceremony marked the beginning of the first round of the 2025 NIPDs in the state.
